Christmas Miracle of the Day: 59-year-old Brenda Hewlett, who has never so much as held a hockey stick, makes a 114-foot, once-in-a-million-lifetimes puck shot during halftime at an Akwesasne Warriors game to win a brand new 2012 Ford F-150 from Frenchie’s Ford in Massena, NY.

According to the dealership’s Internet Manager Clayton Plourde, Ms. Hewlett arrived at Frenchie’s last Friday for some service work on her beat up truck, and remarked how she wished she could afford a new one.

Service manager Joe Jock joking suggested she fill out a ballot and try winning one in the rink.

Guess the joke’s on Joe Jock.

[thanks adam!]

Maybe the Sabres should sign her since she can actually score points, something they seem to have forgotten how to do.

PSA of the Day: Zach Anner, who famously won his OWN show on Oprah’s television network with the Interner’s help, will finally launch that show — Rollin’ With Zach — next month.

Synopsis:

In season one of Rollin’ With Zach, he travels from coast to coast, visiting Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Portland. Each episode is filled with humor and emotion, as Zach meets new people, indulges in his favorite treats, and attempts new and exciting experiences he never thought possible! From surfing to sailing, rock climbing to water-skiing, he challenges himself to try the unexpected, and at times - the seemingly impossible. And when things don’t go as planned, Zach embraces the problem with his sharp sense of humor and a positive attitude, because travel is an adventure and sometimes you just have to “roll with it!”

Rollin’ with Zach premieres Monday, December 12th, @ 8 PM ET/PT on OWN.

Ok someone get me OWN now - I want to watch this! His audition videos were awesome and the show looks just as good. Really happy he won and even happier his show is actually a reality. It’s also nice to see John Mayer apparently kept his promise of writing/performing his theme song.

Heartwarming Tearjerker of the Day: In honor of Veterans Day Weekend and Military Appreciation Month, the Boston Bruins invite the parents of Lt. Charles Jacobs, currently serving his country in Afghanistan with the 182nd Infantry, to perform the ceremonial puck drop.

I won’t ruin what happens next, but, suffice it to say, I didn’t call this “Heartwarming Tearjerker of the Day” for nothing.

[reddit.]

It’s a great moment. Then, the actual game happened and the Bruins ruined it by being disgusting thugs.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
